Beekeeping
Bees are an important step for progression in HTFC, where Beeswax is a crucial component for cellar, greenhouses, and the mixing bowl. Bees can also help fertilize crops automatically, grow new flowers, and get Raw Honey.
Obtaining Bees
To obtain your first Bee you must build a Beehive, and fill it with Beehive Frames. Afterwards, place it down, and surround the Beehive with flowers. Every flower increasing the chance of a Bee to move in, up to 60 flowers, making the chance of a Bee to move in being 1/20 or 5% each new day. Multiple Beehives can benefit from the same flowers. Once you have a Bee in the Beehive, the spawn rates of Bees heavily increase, it is normally best to have two Bees alive at all times for good spawn rates. Once you have some excess Bees, you'll be able to start obtaining Beeswax, to do this, right click a frame with a Bee in it, with a knife in the inventory interface. THIS WILL KILL THE BEE so be careful, and make sure you keep Bees alive so you're not waiting on the low chance for new ones to move in. Make sure to leave the frame inside the Beehive so you don't take damage getting the Beeswax.
Moving your Bees
If you take a Beehive Frame that has a Bee in it, out of the Beehive, the Bee will attack you. To prevent this it must be nighttime, or you must be wet, either from rain or staying in a water source for a few moments. You can also craft and wear the Beekeeper armor, but you must wear the entire armor set to be immune to bees. You can also forgo those options, if you're moving the frame to a mobile chest like a Gyrodyne or anything similar.
Bee Abilities
Queen Bees will spawn with different abilities which will effect the properties of the Bees. The abilities a Bee will spawn with are completely random, unless they are spawned in a Beehive with other Bees already inside the Beehive. Those Bees will instead take on abilities from their parents. The more you breed Bees with certain abilities the higher the abilities level will go, leveling from 1-10. Bees with a high mutation ability have a chance of developing a Genetic Disease. Diseased Bees pass on their disease to their offspring, and don't produce honey.
