Ores & Minerals

Surface Deposits

Scattered around the world are small deposits of different ores and minerals. The ores and minerals that appear are dependent on the stone type geology biome you are in. If you find a deposit on the surface, it will always have an underground deposit. How deep the deposit is, is random and also depends on the ore or mineral. For example, copper spawns very close to the surface, while Iron spawns a lot deeper in the ground. You can have some ores and mineral deposits spawn together, and some deposits will sometimes not have a surface deposit.

Underground Deposits

Once you find an underground deposit, either by finding a surface deposit, or by luck, you'll notice it is made out of Poor, Normal, and Rich ore types. Each rarity of ore gives a different amount of ore when crushed. Each ore and mineral type have either a set or random rarity time, for example, Native Copper deposits are only random, which means it can be a poor, normal, or rich deposit, but none of them will always be a certain rarity type. Native Silver deposits are poor in almost all stone types, except two of them, where they are instead rich, but none of them are random. Rarity of a deposit doesn't effect how much is in a deposit, but instead how many poor, normal, and rich ores spawn. Higher rarity deposits, have more rich ores, and less normal, and poor ones. Normal deposits have an equal amount of each rarity.

Ores vs Minerals

Ores have a much wider, and more important use than minerals. Although minerals are still important, only a few of them have any real use, and only have one or two uses. Minerals have their own prospector's tool, which will only identify minerals and ignore any ore deposits. There are some “minerals” that are not labeled here, which are gems like Ruby, and Sapphire, which are classified as minerals, but are located in Gems page.
